Currently listening to Logic’s 1-800-273-8255
I have been unconsciously listening to this song for a while now and I mean, I would just hum to the sound without knowing the lyrics, maybe just the chorus and because the beat of the song appeals to me. What I did not know is that, this song is powerful and it has saved a lot of people, especially in the United States of America. Let me explain.
One of my favorites, a friend, called me recently and said ” My whole life has been downtrodden, from dark escape to custom light”. This was the statement I got from my friend and I was beyond shocked. And instantly, I lost connection, not because I am connected to any free wifi but I mean, I just lost the connection. The most “amazing surprise” is, she did not look like someone who is depressed or going through a difficult moment and this has taught me to be at least be kind and check up on our loved ones. I figured out that we all wear different masks to conceal our real identity one way or the other.
To think I wanted to be like that friend of mine is an understatement. I wanted to be her that I practically stalked her at every point, accessing her jewelries, her designer clothes and so on. How naive was I? I don’t want to be anybody but ME!
I listened to the song, 1-800-273-8255, by Logic featuring Alessia Cara and Khalid and it instantly became one of my favorite songs, with a social message. According to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline( NSPL), in the three weeks following the release of the song, calls directed to them rose by 27%, while visits to their website increased from 300,000 to 400,000 which gave birth to a surge in number of calls to their hotline. How amazing.
I will be fulfilled to write about everybody’s struggle, including my own. I just want to encourage anyone going through depression or difficult situations, hurting deep down but can’t show it to come out and seek help. I know this sounds cliche but it definitely works. I know it feels like you have everybody but you can’t have anyone, but there is someone in your corner you can trust; you just have to look through.
Life is definitely precious and you actually have someone who really care about you, regardless, you just have to open up and talk about your situation. One of my followers left a message, talking about the difficult situation he is going through at the moment, but he won’t give up!. This post is for you and another stating the fact that SUICIDE IS NOT AN OPTION.
Life would definitely give you dictations, but never spell “GIVE UP”.
